The Wørd: April 29, 2008

  • ^ See? This is why I love The Roots. They swung on over to The Letterman Show to totally rock the spot (even Dave seemed like he loved the set/'sette ). And if that weren't enough, they were dripping in resistant black swag (as I was yesterday) in response to the 'not guilty' verdict on the cowards who killed Sean Bell (check out ?uesto's t-shirt). Rest In Peace and much love to the family.
  • 'Rising Down' is in stores TODAY! Go cop that sheeeeeeiittttt! For those that care about Pitchfork reviews, check out this positive feedback... [Pitchfork]
  • 4/27/08 episode of Air America Radio's On the Real with Chuck D. MistaChuck was absent this week, but the show was great nonetheless. At the very end of the MP3 clip, you'll hear the "wear black" message. [Air America Radio]
  • Craig Ferguson roasts Prez George Bush. As C&L points out, it wasn't quite as gotcha-ish as Colbert's gloriful 2006 romp, but it was pretty good nonetheless. Did Bush miss the "hump" joke or is he just slow? [Crooks & Liars]
  • Are Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg potheads? Sure, no doubt. But to be fair, Bill O'Reilly's got a lil' something he needs to put down as well: Bill, quit sippin' the Haterade! [World Star Hip-Hop]
  • Jay Electronica keeps taking the heat. This one's a track by S.O.U.L. Purpose called Lesson A; much better than that new Jay-Z track if you ask me. Recommended... [OnSmash]
  • I'm a casual gamer and I still like to play San Andreas from time to time, so I'll get to this whenever I can. But if you're a serious gamer, you've already got your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV. The new GTA is prepped to break historical sales records and is being credited by many as an all-time best. I kid you not. [BBC]
  • Speaking of which: thanks to speedy bootleggers, you can already cop 'The Music of GTA IV' right here for free download (hurry up, links might go down soon) [Home of the G-Rips]
  • Download: 'Cold World' by Grand Puba [Spine Magazine]
  • Download: 'Krush Groove' Original Soundtrack [Milk Crate Breaks]
